At SHARK, we use cutting-edge PHONON-based diagnostic equipment that is revolutionising inspection practices in the oil and gas industry. Phonon Diagnostics technique®, PDT® and MultiPhonon® systems enable precise and efficient diagnostics, extending the operational life and reliability of industrial facilities worldwide.
SHARK is a licensed and approved vendor for REPSOL, ENI, TOTAL Energies, GALP, CEPSA, SINOPEC, SBM Offshore and other major operators.
SHARK delivers the Phonon Diagnostics Technique®, PDT® and MultiPhonon® systems alongside other Advanced NDT methods, offering innovative, reliable and cost-effective solutions for both offshore and onshore facilities.
Our services are powered by cutting-edge technologies tailored to the complex needs of the oil, gas, and energy industries.
At SHARK, we are committed to innovation, reliability, and high standards of service across international industrial environments.
In 2025, Shark Consulting FZ LLC was recognised at the Innovative Technology Award presented by the European Institute for Non-Destructive Testing (EINDT) for its application of advanced inspection methodologies.
This recognition relates to the use of the Phonon Diagnostics Technique®, PDT® systems, an advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) approach applied to in-service inspection scenarios, including Corrosion Under Pipe Supports (CUPS) and Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI).
Shark Consulting FZ LLC applies these systems as part of its technical service offering, supporting asset integrity assessment under operational conditions.
Our Specs
We operate internationally as the exclusive global service provider applying a proprietary Phonon Diagnostics Technique®, PDT® and MultiPhonon® systems developed by Phonon Diagnostics Technologies Ltd.
These systems enable in-service inspection and condition assessment of pressure vessels, pipings, risers, tanks, pipelines — including subsea assets without diver intervention—and other metallic structures under operational conditions.
This PHONON-based inspection systems have been developed and continuously enhanced by Phonon Diagnostics Technologies Ltd., and are deployed in field operations through experienced service partner - Shark Consulting FZ LLC.
The technology has been applied in a range of industrial environments, including projects involving major oil and gas operators such as SBM Offshore, ENI, SINOPEC, and Repsol.
Operational experience indicates that the application of this technology may contribute to significant reduction in shutdown requirements and personnel exposure (POB), by enabling inspection activities during normal operations without service interruption.

Minimal Field Time
Operational Efficiency with PDT® Inspection
Compact Team
Improved HSE Safety and Efficiency
Only 2-4 hrs. required on site, reducing operational disruption and downtime. Phonon-based Inspection translates into reduced costs and less disruption to regular operations.
Inspection conducted with just 2-4 engineers, optimising cost and logistics. Minimum team size translates into reduced costs.
No Interference with Operation
In Real Time and In Service
High Sensitivity to Defects
Improved Operational Safety
Phonon inspections are performed under operational conditions, allowing in-service assessment of industrial facilities (including tanks, pressure vessels, risers, piping and pipelines) without requiring shutdown in most standard deployment scenarios.
Phonon sensor configurations enable inspection coverage in multiple directions, supporting comprehensive assessment of the asset with reduced need for additional setups.
Inspection scope and coverage may vary depending on asset configuration, accessibility, and operational conditions.
Detection of active defects supports early intervention and effective risk mitigation strategies.
Early identification of anomalies contributes to reducing the likelihood of leaks, ruptures, or other critical failures.
Remaining life assessment and MAWP evaluation provide actionable data to support long-term asset integrity management and maintenance planning.
Detailed documentation and defect mapping, combined with advanced and proprietary inspection methodologies, support compliance with applicable industry and classification standards.
Linear Mode
Pipings, Pipelines
This configuration involves placing sensors at two points along the asset, enabling inspection lengths of up to 1,000 meters between each sensor pair.
For extended distances, additional sensors are installed approximately every kilometer.
This mode is suitable for use on FPSO piping, unpiggable underground pipelines of any diameter, above-ground pipelines, and other challenging pipeline systems.
Planar Mode
Risers
This mode is specifically designed for inspecting pipelines with access from only one side, such as risers.
In this configuration, it is possible to inspect up to 500 meters in length, depending on the geometry and condition of the asset.
Phonon Diagnostics Technique ® system is capable of adapting to various geometries, including pipelines with flanges, valves, welds, and other common features.
Volumetric Mode
Pressure Vessels, Tanks, Complex Facilities
PDT® Systems Final Report
·Includes:
This mode is specifically designed for the inspection of pressure vessels, such as offshore separators.
The number of sensor access points (inspection windows) required depends on the size and geometry of the vessel.
As a reference, the inspection of a 12-meter-long pressure vessel typically takes between 2-4 hrs. to be completed offshore.
